Wool Week in South Iceland 2024

After the wool week 2021 and 2022 a greatßt was a success, the Thingborg Wool Center is expected to be the center of Wool Week again in October 2024. Iceland has a long tradition of sheep farming and processing the unique wool of these sheep, which came to our country with the first settlers in the 9th century. In the past, sheep farming was the basis for survival on the island. In recent years there has been a renewed interest in wool processing and there is a very active group of wool handerks and craftsmen.
South Iceland's sheep farmers and wool craftsmen organise Wool Week together - you're invited!
Arrival day: September 28 (pick up in Reykjavík in the evening)
Departure day: October 5 (afternoon / evening or October 6 with extra night in Reykjavik. Please inform us about your arrival time!
The programme combines wool activities with experiences in Icelandic nature. You will experience hot springs, waterfalls, lava formations, autumnal colourful valleys, black sand beaches on the North Atlantic coast and much more.
In the Thingborg Community Hall with its cosy café, knitting meetings will be held again and there will be a great range of courses, exhibitions and presentations. Courses include knitting, dyeing, spinning, felting and much more.
The Uppspuni spinning mill will present the sheepfold, sheep shearing and the spinning mill at an open day.

NB! This refers to a shared double room! If someone wants a room for themselves, the single room supplement is 525 EUR.
IMPORTANT: Participation in the Wool Week seminars is NOT included, as participants choose between different seminars themselves.
The hotel is located in the center of Selfoss, right next to the new town center with cozy cafes, restaurants and various stores.

Terms of payment:
- Deposit with written registration: 200 EUR.
- Final payment: by bank transfer until 2 weeks before the tour starts.
- Cancellations later than 8 weeks before the tour start are subject to 50% of the tour price.
- In case of cancellation later than one week before tour, the full amount has to be paid.
